Learn Japanese In 3 Minutes
After wrapping up an interview & photo shoot about my Polo steez, Yuko, one of the coordinators from LUSSW (a Japanese based men’s lifestyle magazine) translated some of the Japanese writing on my Ralph Lauren Polo Summer ’06 Laguna pieces. This was an eye-opener. Take notes!
Shouts:
- Yuko the stylish project coordinator for LUSSW Magazine. Thank you for allowing me to shut down all past/present/future ignorant conversations which went/goes a little something like this: “So, how do you know Ralph didn’t put ‘I hate black people’ on that jacket? Would you still rock Polo like that?” A: Um… Yes!
- Mister Lee the U.S. style director of LUSSW. Thanks for the dope interview & I’d have to thank your wife (the photographer) for the dope photos. The spread looks dope. Also thanks for NOT leaving the hyphen (which is this people “-”) out of my name1.
- Sorry to forget your name2 but the woman who came with the LUSSW Magazine production crew who offered to teach my daughters Japanese. Thank you. They already look ½ Japanese anyway so this would just round them out.
- My wife Kris’ the camerawoman. Thank you for your steady hands. You’re amazin’.
Post Script:
- I really, really, really can’t stand when people leave the hyphen out of my name especially when I remind them beforehand about it. Not that I’m in the same space as these gentlemen but have you ever seen anybody leave the hyphen out of Q-Tip‘s name or Jaÿ-Z‘s name? Oh & yes, I took it back to when Jaÿ included the umlaut. Oh I’m so thorough.
*end rant* - I’m going to guess that your name is “Brooklyn”. Once I get a solid confirmation, I’ll update this post appropriately.
